Blow Away
After the last couple weeks of dealing with slow traffic, closed roads and many accidents, I’m done. I won’t re-hash the first 3 snow storms but the more recent traffic issues.
Friday, took quite awhile to get to work and then home again. Saturday, we decided to go to Boulder. Well apparently, 36 was closed due to an accident. We had to take back roads and eventually made it, after a couple of hours. Yes. We took S. Boulder Road which at one point runs parallel to 36. There were NO cars heading east or west on 36. Very weird. Got into Boulder and saw that the Police were diverting east bound traffic to S. Boulder Road. Not sure of the whole story but 9News Traffic said that the highway was closed due to a multi-vehicle accident.
Must have been some accident.
Now this morning, I only work 8 miles from my house and usually takes me 15 to 20 mins to get to work. Not this morning. Try an hour. For some reason, 287 was completely backed up. I did not see any accidents and really, there was no snow blowing across the road. I assume the traffic was so heavy, due to so many other roads being closed.
I think back to London and how horrible the traffic is there. Took hours just to get out of London and god forbid you tried to get to the city center. Then again, public transport is exceptional (if they aren’t on strike!). There, you just knew the traffic was always bad and knew what you were getting yourself into. Here, you assume the traffic will be fine and you know of those bad spots and can avoid them. So when it’s backed up, it’s a big deal.
Good news that FEMA will be helping Colorado out, let’s hope it does some good.
