Wrecked
It has been an incredibly busy past few days. Usually my parents come out to Colorado to visit my brother and I over ‘Spring Break’ but this year, my Dad couldn’t make it out then, so he came now. On Thursday, I picked him up from the airport and the fun began! We went to REI in Denver for a bit ( bought a cute pink Camelbak bottle ), then checked out my brother and sister-in-laws new house, had lunch and then hung around for the evening.
I received my late Christmas and early Birthday present. This:

Nikon D80 DSLR Camera w/Nikon 18-55mm F/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Lens.
Along with a great LowePro, some other accessories, books and magazines about digital photography. Had a great teaching lesson from my Dad on how to properly use the camera, its main features, etc. It was really a great evening. I enjoyed having my Dad tell me what he knows about cameras, lenses, filters, film speed, aperture, shutter speed, light, white balance … etc, etc. Some of the photos I took are up on flickr.com.
I am spoiled. I know this. I have great giving parents. But I am spoiled, for sure.
We played around with Adobe’s Lightroom (Which seems to have a problem with Windows Vista, though). I really like Lightroom and am thinking of purchasing it.
On Friday, my Dad and I drove up to Copper Mtn for some skiing.
A side story - We were informed that some Shell gas stations had a buy one get one free coupon for Lift Tickets. We went to the Shell in Westminster, went in and were told that we could get the voucher after purchasing 10 gallons of gas. Damn, I had JUST filled up. We decided to drive a bit and hopefully, find another Shell station. We got up to Dillon, stopped off at a Shell. I was down to ½ a tank … maybe I’d make the ten gallons but it would be close. We figured we could just buy someone a few gallons of gas, if need be. Begin filling up and start hearing the pump slow down at 8 gallons, then slower at 9 gallons. We are crossing our fingers, hoping we get 10 gallons of gas. It stops. At 10.5 gallons. I begin jumping around and clapping. Who the heck gets so freaking excited over petrol?!? Well, by doing this, we saved $81!
It was a great day at Copper, the sun was out, it was quite warm and the slopes weren’t too busy. I took some pictures while we were skiing, which I think turned out ok.
On Sunday, my Dad, brother Micah and my friend M, all went up to Winter Park. Again, another great day. It was a bit crowded but overall, the skiing was nice. Again, took some pictures, got shouted at by some crazy Ski Patrol lady, telling us the Mountain was closed and to get off. Geez, it closed at 3pm and it’s only 3:05, give a bleedin’ minute, would ya?! Took some nice photos of Longs Peak.
Sadly, took my Dad to the airport at 5am, this morning. I was sad to see him go and wished that he could have stayed a bit longer. Plus, I still have a million more camera questions.
I am tired though. This weekend wore me out. I am wrecked and ready to go home and sleep.
In a few weeks, Enfys will be here and then my mom will be out on her school’s Spring Break. I guess I will just have to look forward to all that!
