I have this thing …
... with pictures.
I’ve always loved looking at photo’s, whether they are of various countries, people, sites, pets, of nothing, or anything. I tend to like artistic photos, where as my husband says that no one wants to look at a picture of a building. If here isn’t a human in the picture, no one wants to see it. Well, I disagree. Sure, looking at 200+ pictures of cathedrals may be boring, I still like to see (some of) them.
When I travel, I take pictures of things, so I can remember them. Not necessarily for someone else’s view pleasure but just to remind me. I love looking at other people’s shots and wondering what they were doing, thinking, smelling or who else may have captured that same shot. I wonder what I’d think about, whatever place it is, if I were there.
Clearly, my husband knows me well (ok I did provide him with a birthday list, but still). He gave me a 30” spinny, rolling, apple green suitcase, for our upcoming trip. It’s lightweight, so I can fit more shit in there and not need to pay that ridiculous overweight baggage charge. Sweet. He also gave me an external DVD burner, as our other one was broken (After spending one too many hours trying to fix it, I just asked for a new one). Also, he presented me with a beautiful (well the picture of it, on the box, is beautiful) photo printer. Now, I can print out all our photo’s to hang on our walls. I really struggled with asking for a new printer, as really printing out your own pics, is quite expensive. I think overall, having someone else do it, really is cheaper, but I like that instant gratification.
I spend a good part of Saturday morning, creating, editing and organizing a slideshow DVD with music (Madeleine Peyroux). I was well chuffed with myself when I slide it into the DVD player and watched my masterpiece. I compiled all our best Russia photos – 184 of them, to be exact – with the plan to send a copy to everyone else that was on the trip. As soon as James got home, I made him sit down and watch. I didn’t receive the enthusiastic response I had (desperately) hoped for.
“There are too many boring pictures. No one wants to see pictures with no one in them”, followed by “Where are the rest of our pics from our other trips?”. Goodness man, gimme some time here! I can’t just pull this out of my arse, now can I? Besides, I like to look at photo’s of the bloody Russian windows and doors, OKAY?!. I know he did like the slideshow and from now on, I will make two. One with all people in it and one with people and silly doors/windows/cars/flowers an shit like that.

Invite me next time! Love looking at pix of buildings and windows and inanimate objects that inspire you to take pix of them.
Recently, several people have mentioned I take 'too many' pix of food and drink and 'weird shit' on my Flickr.
Who cares, it's what I like :-)
